Our university’s email inbox received a letter from the Zhadan family.

“We, the Zhadan family from Mykolaiv, would like to express our respect and ask that you consider our letter. Tragedy has struck our family. Our son, Dmytro Zhadan (born January 1, 2018), has been diagnosed with the fatal genetic diseaseSMA (spinalmuscular atrophy) type 2.

Dmitry is our one and only son, the child we’ve been waiting for so long. Only my mother’s heart knows the pain I felt when he was diagnosed. The pain is even greater knowing that a treatment exists, but it costs66.7 million hryvnias.We’re raising funds; we dream of saving our son. So far, we’ve raised 2% of the total amount.
