Purpose of the event: To identify priority tasks for the strategic development of shipbuilding and the maritime transport sector; to discuss innovative scientific and technical developments in shipbuilding and ocean engineering; and to explore ways to attract investment for the development of the domestic shipbuilding industry in the context of the country’s post-war reconstruction. To create a favorable environment for the effective implementation of research results and the involvement of young scientists, particularly students, in this work, which will serve as the foundation for the revival of Ukraine as a European maritime state, as well as for shipbuilding and maritime education.
A brief summary of the most significant scientific achievements obtained over the past 3–5 years in the relevant field, including the universities and research institutions involved in the collaboration:
The university has achieved significant accomplishments in education and research, and its activities have a positive impact on the development of the shipbuilding, maritime, and other sectors of the national economy, as well as on their technical policies. University researchers actively collaborate with institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and foreign universities, and joint research projects are carried out. International and national scientific and technical conferences are held. Significant attention is paid to the publication of scientific works by the university’s scholars and to the publication of scientific, scientific-methodological, and educational literature. The Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding maintains close ties with foreign universities, research institutions, and academic organizations. The university has significant achievements in educational and scientific activities, and its work positively influences the development of the shipbuilding, maritime, and other sectors of the national economy, as well as their technical policies. The institute’s scientists actively collaborate with institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) and foreign universities. Department branches are being established, and joint research projects are being carried out. International and national scientific and technical conferences are held. The NUK hosts off-site meetings of the Southern Scientific Center of the NASU and the Ministry of Education and Science. Significant attention is paid to the publication of scientific works by the university’s researchers and to the publication of scientific, scientific-methodological, and educational literature. An important scientific and technical problem of national significance has been solved—the scientific, methodological, design, and technological foundations for the creation and serial production of universal transport vessels and ocean engineering equipment have been developed, resulting in the construction of more than 180 vessels and 20 ocean engineering systems at domestic and foreign shipyards. Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding maintains close ties with foreign universities, research institutions, and academic organizations. Among them are: AMICO GROUP; the Southern Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; the Marine Engineering Bureau; JSC “Equator Shipyard”; the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv Region; SE “Research and Design Center for Shipbuilding”; the National University “Odessa National Academy”; Odessa National Maritime University; Harbin Engineering University (China); Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (China); Gdańsk University of Technology (Poland); Batumi Maritime and Navigation University (Georgia), and others.
Key topics proposed for discussion: The conference plans to address current issues, including : the development of innovative technologies in shipbuilding and ship repair; the development of modern research methods in the design and engineering of ships and ocean engineering structures; the implementation of CAD systems for ships (information and communication technologies in shipbuilding); the creation of cutting-edge technologies and materials in marine engineering as a component of enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities; the development of innovative means to improve ship power plants and systems and ensure environmental safety in shipbuilding and ocean engineering facilities; the improvement of environmental and industrial safety and civil protection; enhancing maritime safety; introducing innovations in ship electrical systems and automation; developing project management methods in shipbuilding; identifying pathways for investment-driven and innovative development of shipbuilding and the maritime transport sector; implementing legal innovations to safeguard Ukraine’s national security and innovative technologies for the development of maritime infrastructure.
The institution has a qualified academic staff with relevant expertise: the university is home to 28 research schools led by renowned scholars—including academicians and corresponding members of national and international academies of sciences, as well as doctors of science and professors. Scientists and specialists from other higher education institutions, research institutions, and enterprises are regularly invited to conduct research.
