The conference is being held to discuss the current state and challenges of information security systems and complexes in specialized information and telecommunications systems, which include fixed and mobile assets based onshore, at sea, and underwater, addressing the challenges of developing modern hardware and software tools to counter unauthorized leakage and modification of restricted-access information, and training personnel in the field of “Information Security.”
A brief overview of the most significant scientific results obtained over the past 3–5 years in the relevant field, including the universities and research organizations involved in the collaboration: Faculty members of the department participate in research projects led by S.S., Ph.D., Associate Professor Kozyrev, who is the principal investigator of the research project of the Institute of Physics and Technology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine titled “Study of the power and energy characteristics of pulsed combined energy sources for selecting the most rational structures and parameters in various high-voltage discharge-pulse technologies” (State Registration No. 0120U109434).
The department is preparing the paperwork to launch two independent research projects:
1) “Development of a decision support system for assessing the level of protection of confidential voice information against leakage through technical channels at the boundary of a controlled zone,” principal investigator – S.M. Nuzhny, Ph.D., Associate Professor; principal researcher – Y.I. Kasyanov, Senior Lecturer.
2) “Improving the Theory and Methods of Information Resource Protection for Ukraine’s Water Transport Sector,” Principal Investigator: M.V. Turty, Ph.D., Associate Professor; Project Manager: O.A. Baronova, Senior Lecturer
The results of faculty members' research are incorporated into the educational process. During the 2022–2023 academic year, 23 abstracts and 5 articles were published.
Throughout the academic year, students of the department participated in research projects under the guidance of department faculty and attended scientific and technical conferences. Faculty and students of the department have actively participated and plan to continue participating in scientific and technical conferences: 2022 IEEE 3rd KhPI Week on Advanced Technology (KhPIWeek); the International Scientific and Technical Conference “Information Systems and Technologies. IST-2022,” Kharkiv, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics; International Scientific and Technical Conference “Innovations in Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering,” NUK; All-Ukrainian Scientific and Technical Conference “Modern Problems of Automation and Electrical Engineering,” NUK; All-Ukrainian Scientific and Technical Conference with International Participation “Modern Problems of Information Security in Transport,” NUK; International Scientific and Technical Conference “Information Protection and Security of Information Systems,” Lviv: Lviv Polytechnic National University; International Scientific and Practical Conference “Modern Information and Innovative Technologies in Transport. MINTT–2022," Kherson: Kherson Branch of the National University of Kyiv.
The faculty and professors are actively engaged in research and participate in scientific and technical conferences. The main areas of research conducted by the faculty and their publication in scientific and technical journals are listed above.
Faculty members of the department regularly participate in professional development programs in the field of "Information Security." The main venues for these programs are:
– professional development courses for specialists in the field of technical information security at Ukrainian higher education institutions, organized by the National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”;
– companies in Mykolaiv that hold licenses to conduct business activities involving the provision of services in the field of technical information security.
Key topics for discussion:
-the current state of information security and the challenges of improving it in water, air, rail, and road transport;
-information security issues in telecommunications systems and access control systems;
-access control for moving objects and transportation infrastructure;
-methods for evaluating the effectiveness of information security systems;
-human resources management in the field of information security;
-legal framework for information security;
-problems in the fields of cryptography and steganography.

The relevant departments employ 2 Doctors of Technical Sciences, 4 Candidates of Technical Sciences, and leading experts.
