Event Title: 14th International Scientific and Technical Conference "Issues in Ecology and Energy Conservation."
Event topic: Environmental issues and energy conservation.
Date:October 24, 2025
Location: Mykolaiv
Number of participants: Approximately 100–150 conference participants are expected.
Names of foreign countries and the number of participants from each (for international events): Germany – 5–7 people, Poland – 3–4 people; China – 3–5 people.
The purpose of the conference is to exchange expertise in the fields of ecology and environmental safety, to review current innovations in these areas, and to engage undergraduate and graduate students in research activities.
A brief summary of the most significant scientific achievements obtained over the past 3–5 years in the relevant field, including the universities and research institutions involved in the collaboration:
The issue of environmental protection and energy conservation is relevant both for our region of shipbuilders and for any region of Ukraine where environmental issues are particularly pressing.
To date, 15 conferences on “Environmental Issues and Energy Conservation” have been held. Over the years, approximately 52 different organizations have participated in the conferences, including representatives from the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) (Berlin, Germany), the Berlin University of Technology (Berlin, Germany), the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute,” Odessa State Environmental University, Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University, Lutsk National Technical University, Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, the Institute of Technical Thermophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic,” Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the NAS of Ukraine (Kyiv), National Aviation University, State Ecological Academy of Postgraduate Education and Management, M. E. Zhukovsky National Aerospace University “Kharkiv Aviation Institute,” Bukovyna State Medical University, Zaporizhzhia National University, the Institute of Public Administration and Scientific Research in Civil Protection, the Institute of Hydromechanics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic University,” the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine, as well as employees of the State Environmental Inspection of the Southwestern District, the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology, the Tiligul Regional Landscape Park, the Kamyanska Sich National Nature Park, the Falz-Fein Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve, and others. Lecturers, graduate students, and undergraduates from the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding also delivered presentations.
Conference participants acknowledged the wide-ranging nature and high relevance of issues related to ecology and environmental protection; priority areas for the development of shipbuilding and ocean engineering were also identified. Presentations on the conservation and restoration of natural resources, environmental safety in various industries and energy conservation, the development of post-war environmental restoration strategies, modern jet aerosol technologies for gas purification, noise comfort in modern urban areas, and energy conservation and environmental safety at marine facilities equipped with gas turbine units. Significant scientific results with prospects for further development are reflected in reports on the processing of industrial waste using pyrolysis technologies; the production of alternative fuels from pyrolysis products; determining the optimal area of the nature reserve fund as the framework of a regional ecological network; assessing the environmental efficiency of thermoacoustic heat engines; the development of environmentally safe ecopyrogenesis technology for the utilization of organic waste and low-grade coal to produce alternative fuels; improving the environmental cleanliness of ships through contact cleaning of exhaust gases; improving the module for inventorying sources of atmospheric air pollution; developing environmental protection measures to improve the ecological condition of the Southern Bug River basin; researching a turbo-impact separator for high-pressure multiphase fuel mixtures; creating an ecological-economic criterion for assessing the efficiency of forest resource use; addressing the problems of plant invasions in the urban ecosystem of Mykolaiv and invasions of the aquatic environment of the Bug Estuary and the Black Sea; developing technology for the phytoremediation of sludge deposits at the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant; and others.
Proceedings are published based on the results of the conference.
Key topics for discussion include: environmental and economic challenges facing the industry, energy conservation issues, environmental safety, energy conservation in technological processes and in the management of facilities and projects, environmental monitoring and management, information technologies in environmental protection and energy conservation, issues of environmental economics and sustainable natural resource use, fire safety and occupational safety, regional environmental issues, and marine environmental protection.
