Event Title: International Scientific and Technical Conference
Event topic: Modern technologies for the design, construction, operation, and repair of ships,
marine technical facilities and engineering structures
Date: May 22–23 , 2025
Venue: Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, 9 Heroes of Ukraine Ave., Mykolaiv
Number of participants: 100
Names of foreign countries and the number of participants from each (for international events): China , Georgia , Lithuania.
The purpose of the event: to address issues related to the design, construction, operation, strength, and reliability of ships, marine technical equipment, and engineering structures, as well as technologies for their construction, renovation, and repair.
A brief overview of the most significant scientific achievements obtained over the past 3–5 years in the relevant field, including the universities and research organizations involved in the collaboration: At the National University of Shipbuilding, research groups are actively developing in the fields of “Theory of Ship Seaworthiness,” “Stochastic Theory of Ship Design,” “Fatigue Strength of Ship Hull Structures,” and “Innovative Technologies in Shipbuilding,” which are able to share their experience and research findings through scientific conferences.
The conference has been held for 8 years. During this time, there has been a trend toward significantly expanding the conference’s geographical reach and utilizing modern technology—such as online communication with foreign countries via Skype. Additionally, in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference was held entirely online using the Zoom platform. Throughout the conference’s history, participants have included students, young researchers, scientists, and representatives of design organizations from the following locations: Albatross Marine Design (Thailand), Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (Ivano-Frankivsk), Zhukovsky National Aerospace University (Kharkiv), ONMA (Odesa), ONMU (Odesa), Marine Engineering Bureau (Odesa), SevNTU (Sevastopol), KGMTU (Kerch), Kherson Branch of NUO (Kherson), Kherson State Maritime Academy (Kherson), National University of Shipbuilding (Mykolaiv), Zaliv Ship Design LLC (Mykolaiv), SKB MDEM (Mykolaiv), Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University (Mykolaiv), Mykolaiv Construction College of KNUBA (Mykolaiv).
During the conference, young researchers demonstrated a high level of proficiency in modern software products such as FlowVision, SolidWorks, Maxsurf, Rhinoceros, Foran, and AvevaMarine; researchers and representatives of leading design and engineering organizations from Ukraine and abroad exchanged expertise on the design of modern ships; prospects for the development of intelligent ship control systems, as well as issues related to ship load control and optimization, were examined; Ways to address problems in the mechanics of hull structure failure were examined; issues related to modern shipbuilding technologies, the design of ocean engineering structures, and the reliability of marine equipment were discussed; proposals regarding the study and improvement of ships’ seaworthiness were discussed; and an analysis of the causes and consequences of maritime transport accidents was conducted.
Key topics for discussion: ship design and operation, hydrodynamic issues, maritime safety, shipbuilding and offshore engineering, structural strength and reliability of ship structures, innovative shipbuilding technologies, marine technologies and offshore engineering, information technologies in engineering
