The rapid adoption of information and measurement technologies, along with the computerization and automation of manufacturing, requires the training of specialists in the field of metrology and information and measurement technologies. Metrology, as the science of measurement and a practical field, plays a major role in modern society, where there is no sphere of human activity that does not utilize measurement results. A specialist in metrology and information and measurement technologies is responsible for the accuracy of measurement results, which provide reliable information about the state of many industrial, economic, and social processes, and helps prevent significant economic losses and the making of erroneous decisions.
The objective of the educational program at the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education is to train specialists capable of developing and using measuring instruments, in particular, measuring and information-measuring systems, prepare technical documentation for them in accordance with international standards and regulations, apply modern information technologies to process measurement results and create software-controlled information-measurement complexes, perform typical engineering tasks, and master the fundamentals of research activities under the guidance of a mentor in the field of metrology and metrological activities, as well as preparing higher education students for further study in their chosen specialty, in line with the mission and strategy of the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding.
The objective of the educational and professional program at the (second) master’s level of higher education is to train qualified, competitive specialists for research and design-technological activities in the field of metrology and information and measurement technology. The educational program ensures that future specialists develop the ability to dynamically combine knowledge, skills, communication skills, and capabilities with independent work and responsibility when solving tasks and addressing issues in the field of metrology and information and measurement technology regarding the development, research, testing, and certification of measuring instruments, technologies, and information and measurement systems for the needs of industry, agriculture, energy, and scientific research.
