A three-day retreat was held in Myhiya as part of the project “Bridging the Gap: Building Capacity for Inclusive Education in the Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson Regions,” implemented by the NGO “Association of Alumni of the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding” with support from UNICEF
The retreat began with an official opening ceremony attended by the chair of the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding Alumni Association, Yevgeny Trushlyakov, rector of the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, and Anatoly Ignatovich, UNICEF’s coordinator of educational projects and programs.
Project Coordinator Oleksandr Tur outlined the strategic directions for developing an accessible and barrier-free educational environment, emphasizing cross-sectoral collaboration and practical mechanisms for implementing inclusive solutions
Educational and training sessions were held as part of the retreat featuring the following speakers:
• Dmytro Prasol, who presented practical aspects of accessibility and tactile solutions
• Kateryna Shapochka, who explored the issue of inclusive values in a democratic society
• Natalia Mikhalchenko, who focused on maintaining mental health amid the challenges of the crisis
• Project moderator Olesia Oleksiuk, who combined neurogymnastics with tools for diagnosing occupational burnout
• Olena Bilyuk, who led the final reflection session aimed at helping participants recover emotionally
The retreat served as an effective platform for professional development, the exchange of experiences, and capacity building for specialists working in the field of inclusive education in the southern regions of Ukraine
