
In The Scientific Library of the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding, the Regional Methodological Center for Higher Education Libraries in Mykolaiv, On November 23, as part of a series of events aimed at enhancing the professional competence of library specialists, the following was organized and held Scientific and Practical Seminar “The Transformation of Higher Education Institution Libraries Amid Global Challenges.” For the first time since the onset of the pandemic and the imposition of martial law, the seminar was held in person.
Thirty participants took part in the seminar, including directors and leading specialists from the libraries of higher education institutions in Mykolaiv, specifically the Scientific Library of the Admiral Makarov, the Scientific Library of V. Sukhomlynsky Mykolaiv National University, the Scientific Library of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, the library of Mykolaiv National Agrarian University, the library of the Mykolaiv Educational and Scientific Institute of Law of the National University “Odessa Law Academy,” the library of the Separate Division “Mykolaiv Branch of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.”

The seminar participants were presented with reports and presentations that highlighted practical experience and theoretical aspects of current issues in library operations, namely: the vision for the future of libraries in Ukraine; an analysis of the activities of higher education institution libraries in Mykolaiv for 2020–2022; the role of libraries in the university’s digital scientific and educational space; information and bibliographic support for thescientific and educational process in the context of contemporary challenges; the role of higher education institution libraries in shaping and affirming Ukrainian national identity; contemporary factors in promoting reading and libraries, etc.
The presentation by S. V. Kozlovska, Director of the National Library of Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University, regarding her impressions of participating in the international summer school “University Library and Digital Transformation,” held in Poznań, was both interesting and informative.
The presentations given by the seminar participants were substantive, informative, and relevant to the work of libraries in today’s environment.
In addition, as part of the seminar, a methodological consultation session titled “Higher Education Institution Libraries in Mykolaiv: Adapting to New Realities” was held, during which pressing issues related to library operations were discussed and relevant advice was provided.
The exchange of ideas and professional interaction among colleagues enriched the seminar participants with experience and new ideas.
