The National Research Foundation of Ukraine announces a call for scientific and scientific-technical projects titled “Science for Human and Societal Security”

THE NATIONAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION OF UKRAINE ANNOUNCES A CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR SCIENTIFIC AND SCIENTIFIC-TECHNICAL PROJECTS ENTITLED “SCIENCE FOR THE SAFETY OF PEOPLE AND SOCIETY.”

The application period for the competition begins May 15 and ends on June 15, 2020. More detailed information about the competition is available inthe AnnouncementandtheCompetitionRules.

The name of the competitionis“SCIENCE FOR THE SAFETY OF PEOPLE AND SOCIETY.”

The goal of the competitionis to fund the best research projects aimed at addressing pressing issues related to human and societal safety in Ukraine.

The theme of the competitionis a contest for collaborative projects in research areas related to biosafety, biomedicine, ecology, cyber and information security, addressing economic, social, and humanitarian challenges in the context of natural and man-made emergencies, as well as overcoming the medical, biological, economic, social, psychological, humanitarian, and cultural consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The competitive selection process is conducted in accordance with the Procedure for the Competitive Selection and Funding by the National Research Fund of Ukraine of Projects for Scientific Research and Development, approved by Resolution No. 1170 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated December 27, 2019.

Types of projects by completion timeline:

1) Projects scheduled for completion in 2020

2) projects scheduled for completion in 2020–2021

The total funding for the competition in 2020amounts to 100 million hryvnias.

Maximum total funding per project:

– with a completion date in 2020 – 5 million hryvnias;

– to be completed in 2020–2021 – 10 million hryvnias

REQUIREMENTS FOR CONTEST PARTICIPANTS

Legal entities of any form of ownership may participate in the competition. A research group may consist of researchers representing a single institution (organization) as well as researchers working at different institutions (organizations). An individual may not be listed on more than two applications submitted for this competition and may serve as the principal investigator on only one of them. Violation of this requirement is grounds for rejecting all applications in which the individual who violated the above requirement is listed.

The principal investigator and at least one project team member must hold an academic degree awarded or recognized in Ukraine, have scientific publications in journals indexed by Scopus and/or Web of Science, and/or have authored scientific monographs (for the social sciences and humanities) in the relevant field of study. Project participants may not work at a foreign institution as their primary place of employment. During the project’s implementation, the principal investigator or project participants may work at foreign institutions in exchange for monetary compensation (remuneration) for no more than three months in total per year; during this time, they may not receive a salary or other payments from NFDU grant funds.

The project’s principal investigator is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided in the application and the accompanying documents. Providing inaccurate information will result in the project’s disqualification from the competition.
