On September 22, 2021, first-year students majoring in Management were introduced to the basics of academic integrity.
Academic integrity is one of the core values of the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding. At every level—from first-year students to deans and the university president—we value a responsible attitude toward work and respect for academic and scientific achievements. And students majoring in “Management” begin to master ethical behavior from the very start of their studies. A conscientious attitude toward their duties and respect for the rights of others involved in the educational process become the fundamental rules of student life for them.
To gain a better understanding of the essence of academic integrity, its various manifestations, and the responsibility for upholding ethical conduct, first-year students attended a session organized and conducted by the Research Library of the National University of Kyiv. Kateryna Bilonozhko, a certified instructor in academic integrity, created and presented original material on the fundamentals of academic integrity to the students. During the lecture, they learned about the University’s requirements for independent completion of the curriculum, proper citation of sources, compliance with current legislation, and the consequences of providing inaccurate information about academic performance, as well as the various pitfalls awaiting students who fail to adhere to the rules of academic integrity.
Useful information and proven knowledge regarding academic integrity are confirmed by certificates issued by the NUK Research Library to every student who has passed the academic integrity test. We are confident that 100 percent of first-year students in the “Management” program will achieve this!
