Stanislav Vladimirovich Dragan was born in 1948 in the Ryazan Region. In 1972, he graduated with honors from the Shipbuilding Faculty of the Admiral S.Y. Makarov Mykolaiv Shipbuilding Institute with a degree in “Equipment and Technology of Welding Production.” That same year, he began working at the Department of Welding Production, rising through the ranks from assistant to professor.

In 1981, he defended his Ph.D. dissertation at the Bauman Moscow Higher Technical School, which focused on improving the manufacturing precision of welded ship structures made of aluminum alloys. In 1984–1985, he completed a research internship at the Technical University of Dresden on the automation and robotization of welding production. He was awarded the academic rank of associate professor in 1986 and professor at the National University of Kyiv in 2001. From 1997 to 2012, he served concurrently as head of the academic affairs department at UDMTU-NUK.

His scientific and pedagogical achievements are reflected in more than 260 scientific and methodological works published in Ukraine and abroad, including 7 monographs and textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, over 30 copyright certificates and patents, and were recognized in 1983 with a bronze medal from the USSR All-Union Agricultural Exhibition and a winner’s diploma from the All-Ukrainian “Invention-2008” competition. Under his scientific supervision, three candidates of technical sciences have been trained.

For his prolific scholarly work and personal contribution to the training of specialists, he was awarded the “Distinguished Educator of Ukraine” badge in 1995 and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine’s “For Scientific and Educational Achievements” badge in 2020.
