123 Computer Engineering

About the Major

The toolkit of information technology consists of computer systems, which, in the modern sense, represent a unity of hardware and software components that complement one another. The term “computer engineering” is used to denote a comprehensive scientific and technical field encompassing the theoretical foundations and technologies for the development, design, implementation, modernization, and maintenance of system software and hardware for modern computers and computer systems.

The main difference between “Computer Engineering” and “Computer Science” lies in the fact that “engineering” deals primarily with internal issues related to computers or computer systems (that is, “how are computers and computer systems structured and how do they function?”). At the same time, “...science” deals primarily with the application of computers or computer systems to create information technologies or solve specific problems in other subject areas.

Description of the Educational and Vocational Program
  • Name of the educational program: Computer Systems and Networks
  • Major 123 : Computer Engineering
  • Degree: Bachelor's, Master's
  • Duration of study: 3 years and 10 months, 1 year and 4 months

The objective of the educational program at the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education is to provide fundamental, systematic, and comprehensive training for specialists in the field of computer engineering, particularly computer systems and networks, who are capable of solving complex specialized tasks and practical problems related to the design, development, quality assurance, and maintenance of hardware and software for computer systems and networks, as well as to prepare students for further study in their chosen specialty, in accordance with the mission and strategy of the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding.
