PROGRAM "REWARDING EXCELLENCE,"

"For Gifted and Creative Youth at NU"

NUK students are engaged in and developing their skills across various fields and disciplines. Research projects, active community involvement, and athletic and creative achievements have been encouraged and supported by the student union committee. This is evidenced by the independent organization of the large-scale “Best Student of the Year” competition and assistance in organizing the university-wide “Best Young Scientist” competition, the results of which result in awards for all students who have actively distinguished themselves during the academic year.

Every year, the "Best Student of the Year" competition is held. Under the terms of the competition, students competed for the title of "Best" in the following individual categories: community leader, creative personality, student council representative, class president, union leader, international student, athlete, and photographer. The event was held in the tradition of the Oscars. The best students of NUK were awarded gifts from the Trade Union and golden statuettes—the “Nikas.” “Best Student of the Year” has become a prominent university celebration that has attracted significant attention from the student body, the university’s faculty, and the city’s public.

In addition, since 2010 , it has become a tradition to hold the “Best Young Scientist” competition in collaboration with the Research Department of the National University of Shipbuilding. The trade union supported and encouraged students and graduate students at the National University of Shipbuilding who are engaged in scientific research, and to this end, it facilitated the competition and awarded the best participants and winners in each category.

Every year, the Student Union Committee actively advocates for students’ interests at meetings of the NUO Scholarship Committee, where decisions are made regarding the awarding of merit-based scholarships to top-performing , active, and talented students at the University, including the Mayor’s and City Council Scholarship, which was primarily awarded for community service.
