Метою ОПП є підготовка висококваліфікованих магістрів з професійними компетентностями, необхідними для виробничої, дослідницької та інноваційної діяльності у сфері екології, охорони навколишнього природного середовища і збалансованого природокористування із застосуванням сучасних досягнень у галузі комп’ютерних наук та інформаційних технологій. Характерною особливістю освітньої програми є міждисциплінарний характер, що надає випускникам можливість оволодіння компетентностями зі сфер професійної діяльності, які знаходяться на перетині соціальних комунікації, екології, охорони довкілля, збалансованого природокористування, системного аналізу та інформаційних технологій.
