Об’єкти вивчення та/або діяльності – явища та процеси, пов’язані з усіма етапами життєвого циклу: суден різних типів, морських плавучих споруд і технічних засобів освоєння океану;  суднових енергетичних установок та їх устаткування; систем електроенергетики і автоматизації суден; суднових машин, механізмів і устаткування; системотехніки об’єктів морської інфраструктури.

Мета навчання – підготовка фахівців, здатних розв’язувати складні спеціалізовані задачі та практичні проблеми у сфері суднобудування або у процесі навчання, що передбачає застосування теорій та методів механічної інженерії і характеризується комплексністю та невизначеністю умов.

Методи, методики та технології – сучасні промислові технології які використовується у сфері суднобудування або у процесі навчання на всіх етапах життєвого циклу; аналітичні, числові та експериментальні методи дослідження задач предметної області.

Інструменти та обладнання – виробниче, допоміжне, підіймально-транспортне та енергетичне обладнання, яке використовується на всіх етапах життєвого циклу об’єктів вивчення та/або діяльності; лабораторне обладнання з засобами вимірювань, тренажери-симулятори, обладнання для виготовлення, монтажу, експлуатації, ремонту, утилізації об’єктів вивчення та/або діяльності, прикладне програмне забезпечення

Methods, techniques and technologies — modern industrial technologies used in shipbuilding or in the learning process at all stages of the life cycle; analytical, numerical and experimental methods of studying the problems of the subject area.

Tools and equipment — production, auxiliary, lifting and handling, and power equipment used at all stages of the life cycle of the objects of study and/or activity; laboratory equipment with measuring instruments, simulators, equipment for the manufacture, installation, operation, repair, and disposal of objects of study and/or activity, and application software.
