About the project

On February 24, in Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (NUOS) the presentation of the project “Digitalization of economic as an element of sustainable development of Ukraine and Tajikistan (DigEco)” (DigEco) took place NUOS, along with such Ukrainian universities as Dmytro Motornyi Tavria State Agrotechnological University, Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohiienko National University, Priazovskyi State Technical University, and Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University, submitted a collective application for the project from the European Union’s Erasmus + program, and the initiative had a success. From now on, within three years, our university will implement a large-scale program to adapt the courses of the Faculty of Marine Economics to the requirements of the online environment, comprehensive digitalization, and updating of existing curricula, supplementing them with new courses. Students will be able to study the latest educational technologies in a specialized laboratory, which will be equipped at the expense of won grant funds from the EU funding program of the European Neighborhood Instrument. `It is worth noting the scale of this project: it involves 16 partners, including the already mentioned universities of Ukraine, Tajikistan, Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Maribor (Slovenia), organizations which represent medium and big business, governments of all involved countries. This project is surprisingly important for Ukraine, as in 2021 only 10 new projects will develop the potential for 46 organizations in Ukraine under the EU Erasmus + Program, and DigEco is one of them. The goal of this project is to introduce the digital economy in the process of higher education in Ukraine and Tajikistan, based on the international practice of education of the system 4.0 to ensure sustainable economic development of these countries. The objectives are, first, to modernize current curricula through the introduction of multidisciplinary digital economics curricula for master students in Ukraine and Tajikistan by December 2023; secondly, creating opportunities for inclusive education in the digital economy, and thirdly, involving stakeholders in the learning process. In the process of project implementation for students of economics of our university 13 new courses will be developed and implemented. These courses will help to form a completely modern specialist, whose competence and expertise will certainly be in demand in the global labor market. We are sincerely convinced that the DigEco project will be a significant milestone for our university in the large-scale work of adapting student education to the new requirements of modernity, and will help to build strong partnerships with our international colleagues.
